Hi, there, and a huge thank you for checking out this post. This is Dan, one of the game designers for Relics Untold writing directly from the Quinvalan Isles of the Conclave of The Spheres, where our crafty mages are preparing a totally safe portal to carry our team and all of the game’s miniatures directly to AdeptiCon, in Schaumburg, Illinois.

If you are not familiar with the event, it is one of the world’s largest conventions for the miniature wargaming enthusiast, and for all those who have plans on attending, be sure to drop by booth number 606 in the Discovery Hall from March 20 to 24. There, you will get to meet Loot Studio’s staff, learn more about the game, and see all of its miniatures fully painted.

After tons of playtesting sessions at our studio and with our discord community, we are extremely excited to be finally playing the game with the general public. Matches will be held from 10 AM to 7 PM at the Utopia Ballroom where we will have a dedicated table with a capacity for up to 8 players. All cards and miniatures necessary to play will be provided by the team and no experience with the game’s rules is required.

Like other demos at the event, the matches are held on a first-come, first-served basis, but you can book a spot by searching for “Relics Untold: Game Preview” on Adepticon’s Website. You will be able to choose a deck from one of the four mono-faction Seekers to play and all materials for the match will be provided by the team, with our game designers there to guide you through the whole process.

For those of you who already played the game and are on our Discord Server, this time we are hosting more than your regular matches, as those joining us will be able to experience for the first time the game’s new Terrain System along with 2v2 team battles.

If you’ve been following the project for a while, you should have a general idea of the direction we are going for with its art and themes: A story set in a dark, broken world, where the political balance between four major factions is suddenly threatened by the receding of the Malediction, a mysterious magical vortex that conceals the lands of a lost civilization and an untold number of magical artifacts known as Relics.

As we kept working on the game, we realized that the Terrains showcased up to this point in our posts and videos did not reflect the highly detailed sculptures that Loot Studios is known for, nor the darker aspects of the world we were crafting. There was also the fact that while trying to figure out a solution geared towards competitive play, we went in a direction that vastly limited the areas of the terrains, compromising the sense of scale of our artwork and the freedom of customization that is so dear to the wargaming community. Thankfully, this is no longer an issue.

After passionate feedback from our testers and through the efforts of our team, we’ve come up with a solution that is even quicker and simpler to set up for competitive play, better suits our world, and allows for the degree of player customization that we were missing. In a future post, we hopefully can address the design advantages of this approach in more detail without spoiling some of the surprises.

As for now, I would like to leave you with a picture from our last testing session where we used the new Terrains to stir your imagination. Hopefully, this brief spoiler along with the concept art on this post can get you excited about joining us at the event and getting to know more about this world. Until then, wish us luck with that portal! See you soon.

The common belief is that the magic of the Anush-Vah came from Ptan-Ravalum, the queen-priestess who stole the power of creation from the Everlasting, the Anushamatra itself. What was an act of revenge and a way to save her people, paved the way for a whole new belief and arcane basis never seen in Selejia before.
